Cool Space!
Due to the extreme heat, it has been suggested we open the village hall in Bishop Sutton Village where we have air-conditioning in the upstairs Taylor Room. You need to be aware, you need to climb some stairs to this room as the stair lift is not available. Before confirming this will go ahead, we need to know if this will be worthwhile and people wish to avail themselves of this facility. We have a volunteer who is willing to be there to assist (there will be no charge for t

New Soft Chairs in the Village Hall!!!
Over the years, people have said that the exsting plastic chairs in the hall are not very comfortable sitting for long periods! This was always in the back of our mind and luckily, our attentive secretary Rachael spotted some second hand banquet/wedding chairs for sale on Facebook! On Saturday, some members of the committee, shifted 249 chairs in order to find 150 good ones which we then brought to the hall, cleaned and put in the store room! The next time you enjoy a show

Village Hall has fresh makeover!
Those of you who went to see the hilarious Dadda Dia staged by our own Sutton Theatre Company this weekend will know of the tremendous transformation of the bar, now named the 'Malted Duck'. This work was carried out by two amazing volunteers all the modifications in their own time. We are indebted to Penny and Justin for this tremendous work and those on the committee of STC who funded much of it! Not to be outdone, our own volunteer Shep, has painted the main hall walls i

Moulin Bouge - A riotous fun show!
Wow! What a wonderful, fun-filled evening we had at the Valley Arts 'Moulin Bouge' show last night! It was everything the publicity described; comedy, circus, song but so much more with the talented Enchanté Productions! It was stupidly funny from start to finish with non-stop laughter at the ludicrous antics of the potato/spud theme. Very cleverly written and executed. Wonderful talented people with singing, acrobatics, knife throwing and a musical dog that played horns

Cause for Concern
As chairman of the management committee of the village hall, I need to highlight that the existing volunteer trustees and committee members has reduced during the past year meaning the load carried out by fewer individuals is greater than before. The constitution of Bishop Sutton and Stowey Village Hall states there must be a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer; currently the chairman is holding all three positions plus the role of being responsible for maintenance and website/so
