Forget the hype about the Bayeux Tapestry - we have our own Village Hall Tapestry!

We are preparing for our 30th anniversary celebration on 26th September marking exactly 30 years since the inaugural social event was held in our community hall.

As part of this work, we have today taken down the village tapestry that the village Women's Institute created depicting all aspects of village life in 2000 to mark the occasion of the new millennium. It is a wonderful work or art with incredible precise detail; if you look closley you can even see the gravestones in the church, jets flying overhead and hanging baskets outside the post office!

We have dusted it off and it will be exhibited lower down on a different wall where it will be much easier to see and marvel at the wonderful work these ladies performed 27 years ago! The signature names of all the contributors are embroidered on the rear of the piece of art. Fortunatley, some of these ladies are still with us but I would like to re-emphasise here our grateful thanks to the village WI and our wonderful ladies who contributed to our village life.
